Congratulations to Jane Larson from Ann Arbor, Michigan!
Jane holding up her prize winnings, a signed copy of Switch Craft and a swatch of Luminex lighted fabric. She plans to incorporate the fabric into a little black dress she's making along with some LEDs.
We want to thank everyone who took the survey. We have new projects and posts planned to incorporate your feedback, so be sure to stay tuned!Continue Reading »
As promised, here is a more robust update to the Rodarte's light-up heels that was posted two weeks ago. I used the LED sequins from Aniomagic, you can find them here. The battery pack is from Switch Craft, the materials below account for this. You can use a different battery holder if you like, both Aniomagic and Lilypad's battery holders work well.

Shannon of PolyMath Design Lab is a 30-year old designer in Oregon and a follower if I Heart Switch. I found her through her comments on this blog and was just facinated by what I found. Not only is she a talented designer in jewelry and unique products, Shannon has been playing around with her first electronic skirt (as you see above). I decided we must interview Shannon and let everyone on Switch see what an amazing project can be done by a first time electronic fashion crafter. The interview, video of the skirt, and more images are after the Break.Continue Reading »

Diana Eng is "using technology to turn make-believe into reality" at her Fairytale Fashion Show at Eyebeam in NYC tomorrow night. Diana, who has recently been seen geeking out with ham radios, has also been reporting on the process of the fashion show on CRAFT and Make since last Friday. She's been coordinating and working on the project with the help of Eyebeam a Art and Technology Center and few very talented techies. I am really looking forward to it. I'll be there tweeting as the models hit the runway, so be sure to stay tuned to my tweets from switchGirl.Continue Reading »
Make a fun glow-in-the-dark writeable wall! PaulBo over at FangleTronics has a really simple DIY for making a glow in the dark wall you can write on. The wall is made by adding a few coats of Glow-In-The-Dark Brush-On Paint and any type of light or LED pen will light up the wall. This is a seriously fun project for the whole family and FangieTronics does a great job of explaining how to make it.
For those without electronic skills, purchase an LED light pen or LED key light to use to write on the walls instead of making one from scratch.

Mr. ArduinoFun has posted a really great tutorial for the electronic seamstress on Instructables. The concept, based Ethan Dicks from theFusefactory.org's emergent Sheep Sculpture project, is a scarf that detects when you are near your loved one.Continue Reading »
I am loving this sexy silk dress from Aniomagic. Not only is it pretty, but just a swing of the train controls a hidden iPod. It may look hard to make, but it's EASY! Aniomagic sells everything and has the directions up on their site and on instructables. Go ahead and turn that LBD into the next glamtronic super machine!
