NY Times Before & After

I shared my redecorated living room with the NY Times recently and am really happy with the results.

Before the transformation my living room didn’t have much of a spark. In fact, for months it looked like a space I just moved into, and lacked any personal style. As a designer, I just had to do something about it.

Like many, I live in a rented space and a complete overhaul wasn’t an option. I made some easy and low cost upgrades that wouldn’t have me forfeiting my security deposit when my lease is up.

For more, see the flickr photostream of the process. If you cannot see the photostream below click here.

If you like what you see and want to do it yourself, be sure to stay tuned as I’ll be posting the instructions for the upgrades over the next three weeks.

I have three colors on my walls. I have an undercoat of a really bright mint green, then I painted over it with Valspar "Aqua Glow" (5007-9B). The color is brushed on and mixed with white as you move up the wall. However, the "aqua glow" would look just as great in one solid coat of color.

I LOVE this! Can you tell me how you got the color to fade on your walls? I've been obsessing about them for a few days now, and would love to try it in the new place I'll soon be renovating...

LOVE the transformation, have used similar colors in my living room for a few years and it just feels so comforting and lively!

Your book arrived yesterday and I flipped straight to the back and went through the techniques. VERY COOL, very straight-forward. My mind is spinning w/ ways to apply them...
