A Bra For Homeland Security

The Ig Nobel Prizes—a Nobel Prizes parody—annually highlight ten often fascinating and sometime farcical scientific archievements. Among this year's winners are "Are Full or Empty Beer Bottles Sturdier and Does Their Fracture-Threshold Suffice to Break the Human Skull?" (Peace Prize) and "Microbial Treatment of Kitchen Refuse With Enzyme-Producing Thermophilic Bacteria From Giant Panda Feces" (Biology Prize). What makes this year's list really special is the selection of a fashion technology invention for the Public Health Prize.

Dr. Elena Bodnar (that's her in the photo above, having an intimate moment with three real Nobel laureates) won the distinction with her life-saving garment: a bra that's convertible to a pair of protective face masks. It gives you the support that you need no matter what the Homeland Security threat level is. In an emergency simply remove it, wear it over your face, and breathe normally. And don't be shy to share your spare cup with that fine looking gentleman next to you, because you are generous like that.
